In Italian song, the theme of prostitution appears around the 1920s thanks to two compositions written by the famous duo Bixio and Cherubini, one of which is the Tango delle capinere : a song to the rhythm of a tango, a great success that alludes to the themes of social discomfort and the transgressive charm of prostitution.
But it was in Paris that the song achieved an exceptional international success, with the title of Le tango des fauvettes. This song of the "Belle Époque" was translated twice and performed by Berthe Sylvia and the unforgettable Mistinguett.
